Licensing News2008-2009 UC-MCCA Enrollment available (4/9/08)The 2008-2009 UC-MCCA Enrollment period is now open through May 9thBriefly, a school or department gets to use whatever version of Windows or Office it needs. An annual license fee is charged based on the departmental FTE count. This is a good idea in some places, and not in others. Many departments already have agreements of this type in place. Contact Bob Hudack 824-6759 or your Computing Support Coordinator for more info. You can renew your license and get the latest Matlab software from the NACS Response Center, E2130 Engineering Gateway. Please call us at extension 4-2222, to reserve a copy of the Matlab software installation package before coming in.When you come to NACS you will need the following information:
New Pricing Structure @ $65/copy (New/Renewal):This year NACS price is: $65/copy for a new, or renewal, purchase of Matlab. This price will not be prorated as the Fiscal Year renewal date approaches and will be valid from July 1, 2005 - June 30, 2006.The campus license includes Matlab, Simulink and approximately 2 dozen toolboxes. To purchase this combination directly from Mathworks, you would pay $500 for the base product and $200 each, per toolbox. NACS still has several stand-alone (individual) licenses available for Matlab (no toolboxes) for $250, plus tax; the renewal price will be approximately 20% of this. Please contact Frank Wessel directly at fwessel@uci.edu if you are interested.
What's Included in this Distribution:This year we have reinstated, or added, several new toolboxes to the Matlab Campus Concurrent License (CCL). The Matlab CCL is the license that most faculty, researchers, and students use when they access Matlab and which is separate from the NACS administered laboratories and HSS School of Engineering laboratories. These new toolboxes include:
Adding New Toolboxes to the Campus Concurrent License During the Fiscal Year:Individuals can add toolboxes to the Matlab CCL incrementally, by purchasing direct from Mathworks and coordinating their acquisition with NACS. NACS will add the new license to our server and "node-lock" the toolbox to your host. If there is sufficient interest, or there are recurring needs for a specific toolbox, or toolboxes, then at the next FY renewal cycle NACS will augment the CCL, taking advantage of a volume purchase to obtain tiered pricing. Since your toolbox needs will not be known unless you provide us with feedback, please feel free to send me your comments, or needs, to fwessel@uci.edu.Most but not all of the actual information we have is entered. We are adding more on a continuing basis. If you have comments on the system's design, or want to see a particular product entered in the database right away, please use the comment form above. |
